september is here.

We have had a hot, hot, hot August and are glad to see the daily highs dipping down into the low 100s, rather than the 110s. :)  As we very eagerly anticipate our trip to Michigan, we are actually excited to be COLD for a change!

Naomi with The Burgess Animal Book, one of the schoolbooks she & I are doing together this school year.  :)

Life has been pretty good around here lately.  The kids and I are beginning to settle into a nice routine with school, which I guess is a good thing since we are now five weeks into the current school year!  David is registered for the ACT test, and I have had some fun discussions with both he and Marissa about college.  Currently, the tentative plan is for David to attend the local community college for the first year or two and then transfer somewhere else.  Of course, he could end up with a great scholarship and/or grants that might make another school more of a possibility right up front.  We will see what happens.  :)

We had a busy Labor Day weekend... Matt took the Friday before off, so we had a nice four-day weekend together.  We hung around the house, went shopping for new & interesting foods at the Asian market, changed the front differential oil in our Suburban, went golfing with some neighbors ($14 total for the two of us!), and drove north of Payson for a picnic with friends.  It was a nice break from the usual routine and so great to get out of the city for a while. :)

We are really excited about our upcoming trip to Michigan. :)  We will be traveling by train again, as we did in 2009, and are looking forward to seeing the fall colors.  Not to mention our old home and family and friends who we haven't seen for over a year!
