This past Sunday, all the kids except David had a skit/song at church with the kids' club. The song had a Western sound to it, so all the kids had to dress like cowboys & cowgirls.
What added to the fun was that our homeschool group had a get-together with a "hoedown" theme that afternoon. So on Saturday, we shopped at garage sales and both the Goodwills in our town for hats & whatever else we could find that would work.
The hoedown was the first homeschool group event Matt was able to be a part of, so he finally got to meet some of the families in our group. It was held at the local regional park, and we had a cookout/potluck, visited with people, went for a hike, and then had a bonfire. We were able to visit with our friends Dan & Laura and their three kids, as well as get to know some others we didn't know well before. It was a fun time. :)
Here are a few shots from Sunday...
Here are the kids singing at church. Marissa also had a main part in the skit that happened just before this song... she did *great*! (Back row, left: Marissa; front row, 3rd from left: Joshua; 3rd from right: Jesse; on the right: Naomi)
Here are Marissa & me at the hoedown. I know my hat's not really "Western", but I got it for free at a garage sale, and now I have the perfect hiking hat... very lightweight, yet keeps the sun off my face. :)
Marissa & Naomi (and many other kids) climbed a rock on our hike. Naomi is really only about a foot off the ground. :)
It was so sweet watching Matt & Naomi hiking together that I had to snap this photo. :)
About 30 seconds after this photo was taken, the marshmallow was on fire and Matt had to blow it out. Jesse practically had an instant roasted marshmallow!
Naomi & Jesse enjoyed chowing on s'mores. :)
