change of plans

Since my last post, David's plans have changed.  After much contemplation, talking with Matt & me, and with our encouragement, David decided two weeks ago to leave for Marquette earlier than originally planned.  In fact, he will be flying to lower Michigan on September 5th, visiting a couple of days with family and then taking the bus up to Marquette.

He's got a cool place to live in an upstairs apartment in a house with two other Christian guys, right next to a church in town and practically across the street from NMU's campus. He may even have a lead on a job, too.  He plans to get around town by mountain bike, which he will buy once settled into his new place.  He'll have to buy a bed or futon for his room... but he'll be right down the street from our favorite thrift store up there.  He'll be all set. :)

David's got his stuff weeded down to one checked bag, a carry-on and his laptop bag.  That red suitcase has his favorite electric guitar in it, amazingly enough!  (the red guitar is staying here.)

David's really grown & matured a lot this year and he is ready to move out on his own.  Matt & I are really excited for him, heading off on this new adventure to Marquette.  The "only" tough part is that he'll be so far away that we'll only be able to see him just a handful of times throughout the year! :(  Wow, it's so hard to believe that the first of our "arrows" is ready to fly!

If you think of it, please pray for Matt & me and the other kids.  We're all excited for him, but it's so hard to wrap our minds around him not living here after next Wednesday.
