This photo is from ABC 15, showing the "Haboob" dust storm rolling into Phoenix last night.

This storm rolled into the Valley last night, and apparently there hasn't been something like this in 20 years or so. It was a huge wall of dust at least 50 miles wide!  (It's called a haboob, which is derived from the Arabic word "habub," which means "blowing violently".)  

We were at home when it hit, so thankfully Matt didn't have to commute home in the "sudden darkness" as people described it.  When we looked toward the west, we couldn't see the mountains.  As the wind picked up, we could see the wall of dust coming from the west.  Honestly, it was kind of dramatic, but not quite as much as the photo above shows.  I guess it was because we were on the underside of it and couldn't see the awesomeness of it all.  (I had been thinking maybe we were only at the edge of the dust storm, but Matt said what we had was "it.")
